Passenger lifts, fitted by the people who maintain them.

Traction and hydraulic passenger lifts from two-stop residential cars to twelve-storey office groups. Surveyed, supplied, installed and then maintained by the same company — so nobody can tell you it was the other lot.

The lift most buildings need

A passenger lift is a twenty-five year decision.

The car is the part everyone sees, and the part that matters least. What decides whether a lift is still reliable in year fifteen is the drive, the controller and whether the parts are still obtainable from more than one supplier.

We specify open protocol controllers as standard. Any competent lift company can maintain what we install, which means you are choosing to stay with us rather than being locked in.

Three ways to drive it

Traction, machine-room-less, or hydraulic.

The shaft, the travel and the traffic decide which. Not preference.

Rope · 2–20 floors
Traction

Counterweighted and rope-driven. The most efficient option above four floors, the smoothest ride, and the longest service life. Needs a machine room or a compliant overhead.

Gearless · 2–12 floors
Machine-room-less

The gearless motor sits in the shaft, so no plant space is lost. Now the default for new-build where headroom allows. Quiet, efficient and cheaper to build around.

Ram · 2–6 floors
Hydraulic

A ram pushes the car from below. Low headroom, heavy loads and short travel suit it well. The power pack can sit up to ten metres away in a cupboard.

01 / Specification

We will tell you when a smaller lift is fine.

Oversizing is common. A 13-person car in a building where eight would carry the peak load costs more to buy, more to run and takes more of the floor plate.

The traffic calculation takes an afternoon and usually pays for itself twice over.

02 / Installation

Directly employed engineers, not subcontractors.

The same team surveys the shaft, sets the rails, hangs the doors and commissions the lift. Nobody hands the job on halfway.

On occupied buildings we work to an agreed access plan, including out-of-hours where the stair is the only alternative route.

Typical applications

City centre office
Duplex traction

Two 1000 kg cars in a shared shaft serving eight floors, sequenced as a duplex group to cut lobby waits at peak.

Retirement development
8-person MRL

Machine-room-less lift installed in a four-storey block with no plant space, commissioned before first handover.

Listed offices
Hydraulic

Low-headroom hydraulic lift threaded into a listed stairwell without altering the principal staircase.

Housing block
13-person traction

Full replacement of a 1970s lift in an occupied block, with an agreed twelve-day outage and daily resident notices.
