Case Study: An electrical lift refurbishment by Sheridan Lifts
We are commencing our second week of work on a 12-story building for one of our clients. This week we are continuing to carry out a full MRL electrical refurbishment (no motor room) after some severe historic water damage to the existing equipment was causing ongoing issues for the tenants of this residential block.
Oxford House, Liverpool
Work is now complete on the first lift of a compehensive, double lift lift modernisation at Oxford House in Liverpool. These works include new entrances created and existing entrances formed. This is a full turn-key package with our industry partners, International Lift Equipment and for the major builders works, PRNS Building Services Ltd. The left-hand lift (whilst looking into the Lift shaft from the landings) serves the even floors of the building whilst the right-hand lift serves the odd floors. Once fully complete, one of the refurbished lifts is a firefighter lift, which in turn will meet the requirements of EN81-72.
A new NHS bed lift, installed around a live A&E
The Acute Medical Unit at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital is one of the North West’s busiest A&E departments. The existing bed lift was at the end of its life, and there was no version of this job where the unit closed.
We phased the installation around ward activity, worked nights where the corridor had to be clear by morning, and kept a single project manager on site throughout. Handover included the LOLER thorough examination and full documentation on day one of service.
Kellogg’s GB — the contract that never stopped
A working food factory in Greater Manchester where goods lifts are part of the production line. When one stops, the line behind it stops with it.
Planned visits scheduled around shift patterns, a fully stocked workshop of spares for older equipment, and a 4-hour repair response as standard. Through the pandemic the contract ran uninterrupted while the site stayed operational.
West London Audi — six escalators in a glass box
A flagship showroom where the escalators are in full view of every customer who walks in. Downtime is not an inconvenience, it is a brand problem.
Six escalators and two lifts under one contract, serviced outside trading hours, with ride-quality and step-chain work prioritised over minimum compliance. Reporting goes to the dealer principal in language that is not engineering shorthand.
